Volvo Group Technical Training Specialist in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Provide Product Technical Training support to the Volvo dealers and field personnel. This support includes generating training material to enhance the basic study of machine systems that will enhance the development of the dealer technician. The development of components to support the machine training process will also be an integral part of this position.


Provide Technical Training

Main Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement basic system technical service training to the Volvo CE dealer network.

  • Assist in the creation of the annual technical service training plan and schedule.

  • Participate as the training instructor for courses developed and assigned by the group training plan, both regionally and in-house.

  • Develop training aids/materials not provided by the product company or customer support group, but deemed necessary for the North American region.

  • Participate in companywide training meetings and projects, as required.

  • Perform specific duties to support the training center facility in its daily operation.

  • Coordinate machine availability logistics for training classes at all locations

  • Assist Technical Helpdesk, with telephone and Techline enquiries during no training periods.

  • Provide occasional regional technical support to Dealer and field personnel.

  • Special tool inventory coordination

  • Training component availability/functionality

  • Training hand tool inventory & coordination

  • Perform other duties as required

Key Skills

  • Minimum of five years’ service support within the construction equipment industry

  • Proficient skills required in the following areas: training on Volvo Products, problem solving and analysis, interpersonal, verbal and written communications, organization & leadership.

  • Must be proficient in the use of personal computer, including skills in the following basic programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and E-Mail.

  • Proficient presentation and training skills required.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Adobe Acrobat, Flash & Macromedia software programs is a benefit to the applicant.

Required Knowledge & Experience

Education/ Professional Qualifications

  • Preferences shown for candidates who possess a minimum of a two-year college degree (or equivalent) in technically relevant field.

Additional Important Requirements

  • Work with others in a dynamic group environment

  • Able to perform duties effectively in a fast paced environment whether working autonomously or under direction.

  • Up to 50% of time may be dedicated to travel

  • Prolonged sitting required due to travel

  • Standing required during instruction sessions. Some exposure to diesel fuels, oil & exhaust emissions
