Volvo Group Lead Product Engineer in Radford, Virginia
This position is responsible for engineering leading the support of product or line of products as they advance into production. Lead Product Engineer will be responsible for instructing, directing and securing quality work over other Product Engineers. Assumes responsibility for product after transition from design to volume production. Interfaces with other departments such as design, test, and reliability engineering to analyze and resolve problems. Analyzes production methods to ensure time and cost goals are reached. The product engineer plans and executes complete engineering design products or specific projects, from initial design concept through to production release and post-production support.
Formulates, recommend and implement the phases of a project to complete it within budget and to meet customer determined project milestones and completion target dates.
Produce designs that are feasible and economical to produce in the manufacturing facilities and processes available.
Provides alternative design solutions, analyses, justifications and recommendations at the concept stage.
Facilitate selection of designs that achieve best possible trade-off of cost, timing, innovation, and performance.
Assumes responsibility for product after transition from design to volume production
Contributes to manufacturing performance and customer service by assisting in the solution production or quality problems associated with the design.
Ensures that all appropriate tests are performed.
Ensures that product designs meet customer requirements.
Analyzes production methods to ensure time and cost goals are reached.
Assists in achievement of sale's targets through direct participation in customer presentation.

- Fulfilment of financial and operational KPI’s for product projects as required.
Teams: Building cooperation among individuals and departments locally sharing information, competence and resources, and working to reach PO KPI/PI and also support local decided KPI/PI at each site

Preferred Experience and Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering required.
Master Degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred
7+ years of product or mechanical engineering experience
Experience working in cross-functional and multicultural team
Knowledge of heavy equipment and automotive transportation industry preferred
Demonstrated lean manufacturing experience
Necessary Technical/Functional/Language Skills
As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required
Ability to communicate effectively within a local and international environment
Must be proficient in the MS Office
Strong understanding of the Volvo Group Businesses is a plus.
