Role Overview

The Senior Solution Architect will lead the work to design and specify end-to-end solutions that expands the range of Volvo Group product and service offerings. This individual will lead the team through the process of gaining customer insights, translating insights to problem definitions and will create functional requirements. The Senior Solution Architect will assess technology capabilities and taking the concept development all the way from insights to testing, in an iterative manner. The Senior Solution Architect will set the stage for a very efficient integration phase once the concepts are tested. This role requires an agile, networked way of working as well as an open mindset and passion to deliver value for our customers. For this team the focus is on getting stuff done, so we are looking for action oriented, curious and entrepreneurial individuals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Translate insights from need finding and possible solutions into functional requirements for scalable platforms across the Volvo Group product and service portfolio

  • Design small scale prototype solutions that enable novel connectivity-based services to be tested in real application

  • Rapid prototyping and validation, and documentation of all that

  • Operate in a test-driven environment using design thinking and continuous delivery

  • Participate in advanced engineering projects aiming to explore and conceptualize future offerings and solutions within the transport and infrastructure domains

  • Engage relevant business units of the Volvo Group to successfully create new digital services and solutions

  • Foster strategic collaborations with external project partners

  • Required Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate well with others, both in a small local team and in globally distributed team settings

  • Strong business management, analytical, decisive, and action-oriented

  • Must possess the ability to work in a fast paced environment with high level of ambiguity

  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

  • Master’s Degree is a plus.

Experience Required

  • Ideally 5+ years’ experience of related experience

  • Seasoned in Java, Spring, NodeJS, Cloud services, web technologies, iOS and Android, integration, unit and integration testing frameworks, source code management systems, build automation tools and frameworks, container and change management tools

  • Experience in startup-type environment and mid-size/large corporations

  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization

  • Ability to work in a team environment, manage multiple clients, and provide consultative skills throughout the process

  • Ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a strong sense of urgency
