Volvo Group Material Handler in Lexington, Tennessee

Position Summary:

To load and/or unload and transport finished or unfinished products, parts, equipment and supplies throughout the entire manufacturing facility as well as input transactions in a timely and accurate manner.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Punctuality and daily attendance

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written

  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment

  • Attendance as well as qualitative and quantitative performance standards

  • Check all outgoing items for accuracy and correct count

  • Check bills of lading and packing lists for accuracy

  • Daily punctuality and attendance

  • Inspect as required all outgoing items for condition, quantity and identification

  • Inspect incoming material/items for condition, quantity and identification

  • Move hazardous materials

  • Must operate our Material Tracking Computer System

  • Operate a forklift to load cartons of completed product onto trucks

  • Operate a forklift to remove and transport raw material, finished material or other supplies from the designated warehouse areas, storage areas or various manufacturing departments

  • Overtime required

  • Remove all material from the forklift or transportation equipment and place into designated work area parts bin and etc.

  • Verify and enter data on shipping / receiving records

  • Movement of materials in support of production

  • Operate material moving equipment as required

  • Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • HM126 Training

  • RCRA Training annually

  • Requires a full range of vision, eye/hand coordination and manipulative ability to operate a motorized vehicle. Requires some walking when using hand truck and physical capability to operate a carton bander

  • Exposed to fumes, outside temperatures and weather conditions. Safety critical position which requires the passing of a random drug/alcohol screening

  • Requires ability to accomplish basic mathematics to verify counts and amounts loaded / unloaded

  • Requires ability to read and write in order to follow instructions and review shipping/receiving documents

  • Requires the physical capabilities for repetitive bending and lifting

  • Requires training in and ability to operate a forklift vehicle in a safe and responsible manner

  • Requires training in JDE System

  • Requires picking up parts weighing up to 60 lbs. (heavy lifting jobs)

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
