Mission/purpose of the Job

Individual Contributor: To work as a financial business partner with various manufacturing departments and business areas to control costs, set divisional targets and recommend actions that optimize financial performance.

This position will prepare and analyze financial reports/statements, annual budgets, rolling forecasts and key process indicators. Accounting activities related to the monthly financial closing process.


Individual contributor: Financial Analyst: Responsible for cost control, month end closing journal entries, results analysis, business partner to select business area(s).


Individual contributor: Financial Analyst: Authority to take decisions in accordance with AB Volvo’s Authorization rules and Financial Policies and Procedures for the respective role.

Key responsibilities/Accountabilities

Individual contributor:

  • Partner and coach business teams in order to deliver superior financial performance

  • Provide financial guidance and analysis to generate positive financial results

  • Employ a continuous improvement mindset in creating improvement solutions within assigned business area(s) and Business Control.

  • Take active role with departmental budgeting, monthly estimating and gap analysis between actual and planned results

  • Ensure accurate and on time reporting in accordance with internal audit and financial policy guidelines.

  • Collect data, perform analysis and report key performance indicators.

  • Recognize patterns in data, information and events, draw logical conclusions, and make recommendations for action

  • Interface with Volvo financial community on financial matters

  • Provide financial expertise on projects and business cases

  • Perform economic/financial research and analysis for use in the development of business strategies and tactics and in subsequent appraisal of results

  • Participate in global networks

  • Fulfilment of financial and operational KPI’s for Business Control such as;

  • Forecast accuracy

  • Savings generated

  • On-time-delivery

  • Budget Variance

  • Return on PPE investments

  • Compliance with GAP

Department, Division or Global Function

Individual contributor:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Industrial Engineering or related fields; or an equivalent amount of experience in the industry

  • 5+ years of experience in Financial Analysis preferred

  • MBA preferred

  • Competencies required, taken from the Volvo Leadership competencies (see competencies below)

Preferred experience and knowledge

  • Financial Analyst

Necessary technical/functional/language skills

Individual contributor and managerial position:

  • As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Excel application
