North America Purchasing is an organization within GTP supporting Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) and Mack brands on the purchasing related activities both on Automotive and indirect purchasing. Supplier Quality & Development (SQ&D) North America is an organization within GTP representing a yearly purchased spend of $2.5B USD.
As Vice President SQ&D GTP NA, you drive and manage performance of your department from QDCF-TSR stand point. You will lead a team of SQA, SQP and SDA Managers in your area of scope to secure the suppliers improve their performances and to bring improvement in the current supply chain process thus creating value for the customers. You will also promote a strong collaboration between SQE and Managers within SQ&D globally thereby capitalizing on global knowledge and competence sharing within SQ&D.
Reporting To: Senior Vice President GTPNA
Be a member in GTPNA leadership team and in an active way contribute to the development of the department
You would drive and lead the SQ&D activities in accordance with defined strategies and targets
Ensure that there is close interaction with suppliers, and develop and work with the team to ensure common strategy is driven and communicated to the suppliers
Ensuring the best Supplier is selected, working with strong collaboration with other team securing good supplier selections done with the Technology & Supplier
Evaluation team and buying teams
Manage the fulfillment of APQP & PPAP for projects and product maintenance
Actively support process harmonization and best practice sharing within GTP
SQ&D and GTP NA
Co-owns SQ&D Knowledge, and actively lead knowledge sharing within geographic scope
Secure quality, capacity and cost targets and KPI fulfillment
Drive department activities towards wanted position
Secure that the quality requirements are transferred to the other departments through the quality plans.
Secure needed communication with cross-functional teams
Manage QDCF- TSR targets of the supplier
Manage the development of staff
Secure and Manage resources within his/her area
Responsible for operating expenses
Work in accordance with the Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct and the Volvo Values
You will also manage interactions with Engineering in development of technical roadmaps, appoint supplier hosts within his/her area and be the ensure all the available data is ready Supplier selection committee
Competence & Experience
University degree in Engineering/technology and/or Business Administration
Strong Leadership skills
Knowledgeable in current and future business trends, technology and markets
Able to execute in a global organization
Face problems and act quickly and directly. Provide direct & actionable feedback
Able to handle uncertainty and the unexpected. Holds things together during tough times

Ensure within the framework of the Purchasing manual, the mandate to fulfill the above-described responsibilities on Continental and global geographical breadth
Stop purchase of material not conforming to quality demands
Make recommendation for approval or refusal of the sourcing cases presented in relevant Sourcing Committee
