Features, Verification & Validation is a global organization using deep customer knowledge to break down customer features into technical requirements. We drive validation plans to reach the requested feature level and secure end customer satisfaction. We also manage the verification plans thanks to world class physical and virtual tests on the complete vehicle such as durability testing in rigs, fuel economy testing, reliability testing with customers and a variety of simulations and tests with trucks on proving grounds and open roads. There is now an opportunity for you to join the Driver and Vehicle Productivity team as a Heat Management and HVAC Test Engineer.
Perform testing within a defined scope in the following areas, features, and functions
Complete vehicle heat management tests in high temperature environments for both engine installations and new vehicle designs
Engine and transmission cooling system performance evaluations on a chassis dynamometer and on road when required
Cold weather performance of various components and systems in extreme low temperature environments
HVAC performance and climate comfort
Work with FVV test engineers to understand customer duty cycles, vehicle applications, and road profiles
Collaborate with groups within Complete Vehicle and Powertrain Engineering to assist with design solutions
Work with simulation engineers on requests to correlate virtual and physical testing
Collaborate with global counterparts to develop and improve FVV test procedures
Effectively communicate test results to relevant groups
Prepare and manage fault reports from tests
Document results and compile engineering reports
Propose enhancements to Test Methods and Technical Requirements for components and systems
5-15% travel as necessary depending on need for offsite testing
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Minimum Bachelors of Science in Engineering
Master of Science degree in Engineering preferred
0 – 2 years engineering experience
Proficient spoken and written English
CDL holder or desire to obtain a CDL preferred
Heavy truck industry experience preferred
Ability to analyze temperature, pressure, and flow measurements
Solid understanding of heat transfer methods
Experience in data acquisition and analysis
Experience with following systems is preferred: Matlab, IPEtronik, IPEmotion, ATI Vision
Basic experience with macros, computer programming and CAD is a plus
Background in the automotive industry preferred
