Core Responsibilities

Take local requirements and create technical concepts based on global platforms. Secure technical knowledge of platform to support local engineering and project activities within the Vehicle connectivity and HMI display technology areas. Work through the framework of SAFe.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Ensure own systems knowledge of assigned End to End (E2E) functions, project scope and deadline for deliveries

  • Frequently and pro-actively report progress, need for support, and risk for delays or other problems to closest project leader/manager and line manager

  • Support project manager in planning work by securing that project plans clearly state important milestones for systems development

  • Ensure own knowledge of process and methods relevant for to applicable systems

  • Support breakdown of functional requirements specification (FRS) to design concepts for the applicable system.

  • Estimate impact on logical design, collaboration models and view flows

  • Support writing of and/or review project technical report

  • Detailing logical design of E2E functions, with FRS and Technical Report as input

  • Develop the collaboration model including scenarios and message sequence charts for relevant E2E functions

  • Create and edit Epics and stories for development and verification in an Agile environment through SAFe

  • Make change notes of all own modifications of the logical design model

  • Ensure level of details in models are agreed to by the receiving verification engineer and SW component owner

  • Ensure all requirements in the FRS that are in the agreed scope of the project are met in the logical design model

  • Explain requested functionality to the HMI developer and work in close co-operation to ensure View Flows meet expectations

  • Ensure diagnostics and notifications are defined to meet expectations

  • Ensure design quality of E2E function by initiating reviews of the design and correct relevant issues found

  • Monitor integration work to ensure functionality in test rig

  • Analyze function faults to identify root causes and needed changes

  • Ensure function faults are corrected in specifications and corrected parts are delivered based on updated specifications

  • Make active use of system test benches and test vehicles in work

  • Take active support from verification, component and suppliers engineer in daily work

  • Ensure corrections actually remove function faults

  • Review system test plans

  • Monitor verification progress and seek review results

  • Correct faults found and initiate necessary changes needed in SW or HW

  • Assume final responsibility that function works in vehicle as intended

  • Collaborate with suppliers (Internal and external ) to ensure that the agreed delivery plan is met to satisfy the project specific requirements

  • Prepare and present, concepts selections, supplier selection recommendations to the Steering committees

  • Ensure legal regulations applicable for the North American Truck markets are incorporated in the product specifications and final products

Qualifications

  • Minimum BS EE/CS, Master's degree preferred

  • 8 years of relevant overall post bachelor degree work experience

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience, embedded systems and/or infotainment experience is preferred

  • Ability to write requirements according to industry standard

  • Over-all knowledge of system development and system verification, and good general knowledge of communication protocols

  • Have knowledge of the assigned functions in truck/vehicles is preferred

  • Knowledge of Agile development through SAFe is preferred

  • Ability to work in and around a commercial vehicle
