Volvo Group Surface Treatment Engineer - Automotive Body in Greensboro, North Carolina
Opening to join a world class team of engineers, helping to deliver the toughest, highest quality and safest cabs in the industry, for the Mack and Volvo brands.
The position is for a Surface Treatment Engineer to develop and specify components treatments and systems for treating the Cab Body of Heavy Trucks within the Cab Body Department. The Cab Body department includes, but is not limited to, cab body (Body in White), doors, door hardware, seals, roofs, windshields etc.
THIS IS US, YOUR NEW COLLEAGUES
We are a team of experienced automotive body engineers, developing new products and supporting production. We do feasibility studies, supporting our studio designers to develop exterior styling. We engineer structures working with our analysis team who simulate crash scenarios and durability and NVH performance. We work with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to ensure efficient production.
We are part of a larger global Volvo team of Body Engineers. They support our projects and we support there's. Together we develop Volvo, Mack, Renault and Eicher trucks in Markets around the world. There is opportunity for international collaboration and travel.
Plan, develop and deliver challenging engineering projects. You'll be working internationally with partners and suppliers and liaising with Volvo global experts.
Perform a wide range of tasks including material testing, material selection and specification, application specification, supplier liaison, support prototype builds and production launch and production facility support.
Specify corrosion protection including galvanizing and e-coat, paint priming, paint, sealants, anti- vibration materials, insulation, heat shielding, grommets, plugs, baffles etc.
Be responsible to assure compliance with all applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARP, etc.) relating to your area of responsibility.
Be expected to meet key project targets such as delivering on time, within cost, weight and quality targets.
A heavy emphasis is placed on the candidate’s energy, determination, creativity, technical analysis and communication..
You'll be at your desk on CAD or creating engineering documentation, in the workshop or lab assembling prototypes, writing test requests, and be involved in test execution. You'll be in meetings with cross-functional and global teams. You'll visit our suppliers and production sites in Virginia and Pennsylvania.
