The Project Office within Trucks Product Project / Volvo Group Trucks Technology , has the responsibility to deliver major competitive, attractive products & services for our customers’ success. The projects are conducted by the Chief Project Managers (CPMs).

Within Project Office North America (PONA), the group Project Planning and Assurance Management supports the CPMs by leading the planning work and managing the quality assurance of projects in order to successfully meet project targets for our customers.

This driven team of 12 people is located either in Hagerstown (MD) or Greensboro (NC). We have the opportunity to work on vehicle, driveline and connect services projects for conventional and electric Trucks.

Volvo PONA is now looking for a motivated candidate who would like to develop his or her project management skills.

Role Purpose

As Project Planner and Project Assurance Manager your main focus is to ensure that we reach the end of the project delivering a great new product to our customers. This is done by maintaining project quality throughout the project and making sure that the project runs with a realistic time plan.

Your main scope of responsibility will be risk management, planning development, and proactive work to reach the project milestones and continuous improvement.

To achieve the project objectives, you will always work cross-functionally. Your stakeholders will belong to the different organizations from engineering to marketing to manufacturing.


The customer needs should drive you. You should have a holistic view to support the projects going forward, but also an eye for details when it comes to project planning and project quality assurance. You should realize the importance of great teamwork. You should be a proactive team player with confidence in your communication skills and a “Make it happen” mindset.

Core Responsibilities

  • Developing and securing the Project Main Timeplan and coordinating with related projects

  • Identifying the Critical/Logical path and building alternative scenarios

  • Leading the project risk management work

  • Follow-up on project progress , tracking and leading activities concerning non-conformances in the project work

  • Securing the project gates, activities and deliverables

  • Organizing gate audits and presenting the project status

  • Gathering lessons learned

You have a university/Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent. SW skills are valued for connected service projects.
