Volvo Group Manager Field Quality Support in Greensboro, North Carolina

Mission/Purpose of the Job

Manage support activities to provide technical resolutions to dealers and field organization. Responsible for management of various support initiatives including Special Tools Program, Tech Support Escalation, Field Repair Methods and Volvo Data Administration.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Managing a team of Field Quality Engineers

  • Support reliability activities with field input

  • Manage implementation of new and enhanced repair methods to the field to manage costs

  • Input information for creation of Tech Tips. (CBR)

  • Manage activities for dealer special tool program, including distribution, communications and billing

  • Provide back office support required to resolve technical issues for internal departments

  • Provide insight/interface to Product Development and Service Engineering for development of long-term solutions to product issues

  • Conduct investigations into customer issues crossing departmental boundaries

  • Monitor, gather and provide recommendations for issues regarding product and technical support functions that affect quality, literature, tooling, computer communications, etc. which need to be addressed

  • Monitor activities in case management system for tracking and reporting

  • Manage aftermarket activities for Volvo Data Administration, including Mack products

  • Provide technical support to Remanufacturing on new product offerings and field feedback

Essential Educational and/or Training Qualifications and Certificates

  • AAS in Engineering or Automotive Technology degree or equivalent field/technical experience

Preferred Experience and Knowledge

  • Proven experience in leading a team

  • 10 years’ experience in heavy truck maintenance preferred

  • 5 years’ experience in truck electronics or engine diagnostics

  • 5 years’ experience in field service or OEM dealership experience

Other requirements

  • Occasional travel will be expected
