Volvo Group Intern: Telematics & Infotainment Verification Engineer (Summer 2018) in Greensboro, North Carolina
We are looking for an Intern candidate interested in working with new technology in the fast moving fields of telematics and infotainment. Telematics is key strategic importance to the Volvo Group as connected vehicles and associated data are enablers for an increasing number of services that offer reduced warranty costs and increased uptime and control to our customers. Infotainment has become an increasingly important to the Volvo and Mack brands due to the adoption of the technologies by the market in the past few years. Applicants should be excited by the prospects of working in a small and dynamic group collaborating with a growing global team towards new and exciting Telematics and Infotainment solutions.
On-board Telematics (OBT) develops product lines based on a global Telematics and Infotainment platform that will support all our brands and their customers. Our organization is growing and includes colleagues in Gothenburg -Sweden, Ageo-Japan, Bangalore-India, Greensboro-NC/USA, Curitiba-Brazil and Lyon-France. This position will be located in Greensboro to support the American markets and brands, including Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, Volvo bus, Prevost bus, Nova bus, Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Penta. The position will work with a staff engineering team to improve quality.

- Assignment will begin on May 14, 2018 and continue through August 10th, 2018 at 40 hrs/week
Automated test development
GPS Simulation investigation and development
Vehicle duty cycle simulation
Test creation and result reporting
Telematics and Infotainment test rig development and support
Design/build rigs to support automation
Design/build rigs to support verification activities
We seek knowledge of a combination of skills and/or tools:
Programming and or scripting class completion
Data communication theory class completion
Basic electronics knowledge - wiring and connection of electrical signals
Knowledge of the following a plus:
Wireless standards, network and communications protocols: GSM, GPRS, GPS, SIP, TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP
CAN Communication protocols
Tools for automation of tests. Programming & Scripting skills: C/C++, C#, Python, CAPL
Testing Tools: CANalyzer, CANOE and J1587 Navigator
Minimum Education and Experience
Strong writing or communication skills
Juniors, Seniors or Masters currently enrolled and pursuing a BS or MS Degree in Engineering; no work experience required
Student should have minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum in major GPA of 3.0
Ability to travel occasionally
