Volvo Group Intern: Export Pricing Support (Fall 2018) in Greensboro, North Carolina


The internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the students’ career goals through contacts with professionals in their fields of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group Spare Parts by working on important and innovative projects. Internships are structured learning experiences where interns and our full time professionals work together on projects within their selected organizations. These assignments allow students to integrate knowledge and skills in manners that are mutually beneficial to the students and Volvo Group.

About this internship: Improve a price list accuracy by identifying correct marketing code, business unit classification and product status for truck components. Determine dealer and customer price impact, propose actions and suggest alternatives for implementation.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Code Reclassification:

  • Reclassification of Marketing Codes Volvo components X9

  • Reclassification of Marketing Codes Mack components MK

  • Product Line Reclassification:

  • Reclassification of Product Line Bus exclusive to Common with Truck

  • Reclassification of Product Line Common to Truck Exclusive

  • Delete Superseded parts from Price List:

  • Identify replaced parts that are available for dealer orders and suggest actions based on backorders and/or inventory in transit

  • Determine possible impact in overall dealer and list price

  • Suggest pricing scenarios when both parts have to stay in the list

Critical Competencies:

  • Education in Business, Statistics, Finance, Economics. MBA Preferred

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Willingness to develop a project and collaborate with stakeholders inside the organization

  • Experience working with large amounts of data and multiple functions in Excel

  • Quality of work output and productivity balance

  • Business and financial understanding

  • Interest in truck industry and willingness to learn skills quickly

  • Desire to develop technical knowledge

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong PC skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite of products; Excel and Access in particular

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Math or equivalent (MBA Preferred) at an accredited school

  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Knowledge of sales, marketing, engineering, finance or pricing

  • Experience in problem solving and/or customer service scenarios

  • Experience working with large sets of data, drawing conclusions and proposing solutions

  • Problem solving, communication, result oriented, learning on the fly

Other Requirements:

  • Written and verbal Spanish preferred
