Volvo Group Intern: Aftermarket Marketing (Fall 2018) in Greensboro, North Carolina


The Aftermarket marketing internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to promote the graduate’s career goals through contact with professionals in the Marketing / Business field of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group by working on projects for the NA Aftermarket Marketing Team. Internships are structured learning experiences where interns and full time professionals work together on projects within their selected area of the organization. The internship allows students to integrate their Marketing knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo Aftermarket team.

Main Tasks

  • Manage order information process from Vendor to Dealer

  • Drive a consistent process that integrates and aligns multiple systems for the direct ship program

  • Define consistent roles and responsibilities for inputs and outputs of this process

  • Co-ordinate with Marcom to align with the current communication process

  • Assist in sales lead capture via social, web-based and digital mediums

  • Assist in the generation of marketing content to drive leads in ‘reputation’ product categories

  • Assist with increasing digital impressions in social and web-based platforms

  • Manage promotional calendar for a few product lines

  • Build and implement promotions to drive incremental sales

Professional Objectives

  • Weekly 1 on 1 - Brief one on one summaries of the learning experiences and project updates will be required

  • Project Presentations- Formal project presentations will be required to be presented to peers, management, and senior leaders within the organization

  • Mentor Feedback- Throughout the entire summer experience, the mentor will provide verbal and written feedback on performance

  • Formal Written Performance Review- At the end of the internship, each intern will be given a formal written evaluation based on their work performance

Skill Set Requirements and Minimum Education Requirements

  • Applicants should be interested in pursuing a professional career in Marketing / Business / Strategy

  • Applicants must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in Marketing / Business at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.

  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.

  • Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Applicants should be proficient in use of web based tools, familiarity with digital marketing and concepts of marketing as a whole
