Volvo Group Intern - Adaptation Purchasing (Spring 2019) in Dublin, Virginia


The internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to support/promote the graduate's career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing by working on important and innovative projects that will build experience in project management, finance, and negotiation. Soft skills and high energy and a positive mindset are also key assets for working in this position across a diverse multicultural team.


  • Manage activities related supplier relations (meetings, documents, feed-back, etc.)

  • Assist the buyers, purchasing manager, and project managers in their day-to-day activities

  • Assist with analysis of supply chain e.g. suppliers, processes and spend etc

  • Perform purchasing activities eg. Request For Information (RFI), Request For Quotation (RFQ)

  • Participate in supplier and internal team meetings


  • Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing degree related to purchasing but other are considered as well as diverse perspectives are needed for success. The degree must be at an accredited school and the applicant must have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
