Volvo Group Co-op: Factory Support (Spring 2019) in Dublin, Virginia

The Co-op role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to support/promote the student's career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study. The Co-op experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group Trucks Technology by working on important and innovative projects. Co-op are structured learning experiences where co-ops and our full time professionals work together on projects within their selected organization. The Co-op allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo Group Trucks Technology.

Core Responsibilities

  • Investigate manufacturing and assembly issues related to GTT product design

  • Analyze manufacturing and assembly problem reports to determine the best course of action required to resolve problems and to implement cost effective solutions

  • Actively work to eliminate GTT design issues that contribute to demerits on factory product audits

  • Work with the design groups to release clear and accurate documentation of design solutions to manufacturing

  • Investigate assembly and manufacturing information affecting product development as required by the GTT design groups

  • Support publishing of weekly report which informing the Engineering organization of issue resolved

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the Co-op

  • Applicants must have a 3.0 or above GPA

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Access, Excel, Project)

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Visual Studio integrated development environment (IDE)

  • Strong Proficiency with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) & VB.NET

  • Good understanding of the Microsoft SharePoint framework

  • Must be able to work 40 hours

  • Must have a valid US work authorization
