Responsible for responding to requests for information and technical advice from VPA dealers, OEMs, Customers, and internal VPA personnel regarding application, troubleshooting and repair of Volvo Penta engines and transmissions via telephone, fax or electronic communication for our Marine and Industrial business segments. Analyze information provided by VPA dealers and create appropriate warranty authorizations and related documentation. Respond to customer inquiries and assist in solving customer issues.
Respond to requests for information from Dealers, OEMs, Customers, and internal VPA personnel
Advise and assist dealers and VPA personnel as to correct VPA Warranty policy and procedures. Assist the Warranty department with the warranty claims requiring pre-authorization
Maintain a complete record of dealer and OEM interaction in the ARGUS database
Maintain knowledge and stay up-to-date regarding the complete Volvo Penta product line and all applicable electronic diagnostic tools. Seek and obtain training and information on new Volvo Penta products
Assist new hires within the Technical Services department
Promote the use of Volvo Penta Partner Network
Assist Customer Relations representatives with customer inquiries
Perform other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Expert level knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of gasoline and/or marine diesel or industrial power products
In-depth knowledge of retail Marine and/or Industrial service trade practices and activities via direct experience or extensive dealer interaction
Strong administrative and general business skills
Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access)
Knowledge of primary PC based and/or electronic diagnostic troubleshooting equipment in use
Bilingual (English/Spanish), a plus
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Associates degree or 2 year technical certification/degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
Minimum (4) four years Marine, Automotive or Industrial retail or wholesale technical experience preferred
Previous customer service/technical face-to-face and/or call center experience preferred
