Volvo Group Field Service Technician - NBU in Bakersfield, California
This position is responsible for the mechanical repairs and services on a full line of heavy equipment products The experienced technician will perform service maintenance on components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, computer, electrical and structural repairs including welding. This individual will be responsible for performing the diagnoses, troubleshooting, and for providing quality repairs in both the shop and field environments.
Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities:
Performs mechanical repairs and service on a full line of products handled by VCES.
Provide service and repair work in shop, field, or at a customer’s site/facility.
Knowledge of all equipment systems including hydraulic, air, electrical and lubrication. Is proficient at diagnosing and repairing them.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics and to independently trouble shoot all systems in all product lines accurately and in a timely manner.
Ability to complete and submit parts orders, warranty claims, and job work orders.
Provide professional customer service to customers about their equipment problems and or options to fix those problems.
Have experience and ability to perform field repair welds on equipment.
Will work overtime and occasional overnight stays to complete assigned task, as needed.
Must have all tools necessary to perform the required work and must maintain and secure them at all times.
Education/Professional Qualifications and Skills required for the position:
High School diploma or equivalent;
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on construction related equipment;
Possesses a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Proficient experience with problem solving and troubleshooting of heavy equipment (ie. Excavators, Compaction, Paving Equipment).
Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft products.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements (e.g. mobility):
Requires prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing and occasional stooping, bending, crouching and overhead reaching; and may occasionally need to climb stairs and use a small step ladder.
Requires occasional lifting, pulling, caring, or pushing objects or materials, over 50lbs; and may frequently lifting, pulling, caring, or pushing objects or materials, up to 25lbs.
May occasionally work around loud, noisy and dusty equipment and environment.
Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
Must be able to safely and properly handle, pneumatic and electric tools
