Volvo Group Director, PPD and Commodity in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

  • Lead the regional Purchasing strategy for all regional commodities for Volvo Construction Equipment.

  • Responsible for development and execution of P&SM project portfolio (all PPD and Localization projects) within Region Americas

  • Secure stakeholder alignment and engagement within Regional Purchasing Strategies

  • Secure, in dialogue throughout the P&SM organization both regionally and globally that the projects have the necessary competences and amount of resources to fulfil activities and assignments from Technology, Operations and other stakeholders

  • Interface with global OtD, Manufacturing and Operations for strategic make/buy decisions and business decisions

  • Suppliers base and Manufacturers organizations

  • Internal

  • Interface with Regional and Global P&SM teams (Leadership and Business Control & Development areas)

  • Interface with Regional and Global teams areas from Operations and Technology

  • Interface with Regional Finance team

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position

  • 4 year college degree required : BA, BS

  • Technical experience preferred

  • A minimum of ten years of experience in sourcing, manufacturing, or quality assurance in a complex manufacturing/design environment

  • Additional Requirements

  • Fluent in English, additional languages preferred

  • 5-10 years of managing purchasing leadership experience with a minimum of 5 years leading commodities, strategies, and project management

  • Experience in sourcing technical commodities in emerging markets (China, CE Europe, India, Mexico and Brazil)

  • Direct experience in managing supplier relationships and driving continuous improvement programs.

  • Understanding of OtD and PPD processes

  • Knowledge of up to date supply chain strategies and implementation tools

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Volvo PPD & P&SM processes and tools including the SAP PDS module

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and related information required

  • Six Sigma certification/training preferred

  • Basic GD&T knowledge preferred
