This position would support approximtely 180 employees at the Middletown facility.

Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (minimal to no overtime expected)

Position Descrpition Summary:

This position will report to the facility’s Human Resources Manager.

The incumbent will demonstrate foundational knowledge of HR policies and practices – specifically focused on payroll matters, legal compliance requirements, and risk implications of HR decisions in both a union and non-union work environment. Experience including: employee relations, application of collective bargaining agreements, performance management, discrimination and harassment, recruiting and hiring, compensation and benefits, leaves and disability management, payroll and timekeeping, records management, HRIS and related systems.

Position Description :

  • Responds to basic inquiries about HR and pay matters and processes, and refers to relevant Company and informational resources as needed

  • Asks questions and accurately documents conversations in order to refer to HR Manager

  • Researches and summarizes pertinent facts and information needed to support HR case review

  • Identifies and escalates problems related to HR transactions

  • Follows protocol on correct documentation and maintenance of personnel files

  • Understands how the correct use of HRIS and related systems impacts HR data integrity

  • Maintains employee privacy and confidentiality in all matters relating to personal information

  • Complies with Company policies, labor contracts, and work rules affecting employment in union and non-union environments; knows when and where to escalate

  • Understands basic components of the performance management cycle and review process, including current review forms for non-represented employees

  • Will network and coordinate with various Corporate partners (i.e. HR Service Center) related to benefits, recruitment and payroll as necessary

  • Understands basic laws and regulations related to recruitment, hiring, and onboarding paperwork

  • Understands Union Contracts and Corporate policy provisions for basic timekeeping and pay questions

  • Understands benefits eligibility and related benefits packages; refers to HRSC benefits specialists as needed

  • Follows basic legal and compliance requirements for submission of leave documentation, certifications, notice obligations, and employee privacy

  • Coordinates a variety of non-for-profit activities and fundraisers including the Company’s Wellness Program

  • Serves on Recreational Committees and coordinates activities

Essential Skills/Requirements:

  • Time management / ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • Ability to handle difficult situations and individuals

  • SAP experience preferred

  • MS Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint), Access a plus

  • Attention to detail

  • Auditing experience

  • Ability to follow directions

  • Ability to work independently

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a HR and Payroll related role

  • Payroll experience required, SAP a plus

  • 3 years experience required with cradle to grave Leave Administration (LOA, FMLA, Military, etc)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Administration of Collective Bargaining Agreement pay rules and as required tracking/monitoring of benefits and contract requirements

  • Administer the Leave Administration Program

  • Manage the site’s Co-op and Intern programs

  • Enter, validate and audit Payroll to eliminate processing errors on a weekly payroll

  • Track absenteeism

  • Handle day to day questions from employees

  • Run various reports and create charts for reporting

  • Other duties as assigned
