Volvo Group Facility Manager in Macungie, Pennsylvania


The Facility Manager is responsible for proactively driving, controlling and engaging in facility management services in such ways that the extent and quality contribute to RES’s mission to reduce costs, increase efficiency and secure the service delivering.

Proactively manage, control, develop and improve the total facility management services at site level, including costs and defined quality through close cooperation with receiver and suppliers. Secure that task is completed according to RES (Facility Management strategy and concept) whilst, at the same time meeting the needs from receivers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operational Facility management (supplier management) and control

  • Assure compliance with all applicable directives and laws

  • Secure space optimization for offices

  • Purchase Facility management assignments together with responsible buyer from IPS

  • Assure a transparent price model towards the receiver

  • Provide receivers with figures for forecasts

  • Identify local receivers’ need and changes in demand

  • Responsible for Service Content Responsibility (facility management relevant items) towards supplier and receiver

  • Share Best Practice with peers within region, division and function

  • Participate in the work to develop Facility management services

  • Responsible for the budget within area of responsibility

  • Provide Business Control with necessary data

  • Responsible for facility management economy at site/ sites, including budgets and follow-up for income, costs, projects and reporting in designated systems

  • Manage the work in accordance to the Volvo Group processes

  • Responsible for the ordering process in the purchasing system EBD, regarding daily operations and specific projects

  • Registration and update of investment projects in the internal project system (VGRE Project)

  • In dialogue with the purchasing department (IPS) actively support the PM/FM managers in the purchasing process in order to avoid incorrect invoices, etc.

  • Follow-up and reporting of investment projects to Property Manager

  • Extensive work in IT systems used within Volvo such as Office, SAP/R3 and EBD

  • The performance of the work is done in accordance to RES policies and processes

  • The KPI's values are continuously improving in a positive direction

Required Competencies

  • Effective verbal, written communication skills and relationship building skills

  • Good knowledge of material and methods for FM Services

  • Good skills in building construction methods/ site infrastructure specifics

  • Knowledge of authorities demands and property legislation

  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

  • Gather and analyze information skillfully

  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative in dealing with daily assumptions

Education Required

  • Business related degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities

Experience Required

  • Minimum 4 years work experience within Facility management services including project management experience

  • Supplier management expertise

  • Knowledge of legislation according to facility management services

  • PC proficiency and good understanding of IT tools in general

  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization

  • Ability to work in a team environment, manage multiple clients, and provide consultative skills throughout the process

  • Ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a strong sense of urgency
