Summary

  • To manage internal supply chain resources (human, material, intellectual and financial) in order to deliver decided products at agreed targets

  • Develop, manage and facilitate the introduction, implementation and maintenance of Global Volvo Group order to delivery processes, systems, organization & logistics to the business process & logistics department. This position enables, facilitates and maintains interaction and communication within Volvo Group Hagerstown

Scope

Managerial position: Supervisor – Material Handing: Responsible for strong leadership within the industrial workforce, drive for efficiencies, motivate and delegate within assigned teams/shift.

Influence

Managerial position: The Supervisor – Material Handling: N-6 from Volvo Group CEO, Reporting to Director – Supply Chain.

Key responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Insure a safe work environment for all employees using a methodical approach to risk identification and mitigation

  • Lead through a communicative leadership style, with 2 way communication and high employee engagement. Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities, how they contribute to the total result, and that they are recognized for performance

  • Supervise industrial workers

  • Execute the vision through comprehensive cross-functional planning of physical and process improvements within work areas.

  • Develop and continue 5S

  • Leadership and membership for the teams and committees created to achieve Volvo Group Hagerstown goals

  • Assist in overcoming obstacles by developing new processes, finding contacts, and opening lines of communication within Volvo Group

  • Actively work within Volvo Group North America on continuing the logistic strategy for Hagerstown

  • Actively work with the various industrial transformation teams as assigned to provide required process information and/or contacts to facilitate group product introduction

  • Participate in Global meeting forums regarding logistics/material handling as needed

  • Drive and develop area targets and goals through the A-3 process

  • Actively work with continuous improvement and cost deployment initiatives

Essential educational and/or training qualifications and certificates

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but would consider 2-5 years of manufacturing/logistics experience

  • Formal training in leadership, communication and people skills

  • Competencies required, taken from the Volvo Leadership competencies (see competencies below)

Preferred experience and knowledge

  • Minimum two (2) years’ of manufacturing/logistics experience

  • Minimum two (2) years’ supervisory/managerial experience in a logistics environment

  • Lean principals/VPS training/Six Sigma experience

Necessary technical/functional/language skills

  • Needs to have a good understanding of the Volvo Group Businesses

  • As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required
